Former Kenya Junior Ace Padam Lifts Bik Ap Gaa Golf Day In Railway

NAIROBI, Kenya- Former Kenya junior ace Kaash Padam fired 41 stableford points to lift the Bik Ap Gaa Golf Day tournament held at the Kenya Railway Golf Club in Nairobi at the weekend.

The 24-year-old handicap 10 hard hitter was closely followed by Joel Kaindi on 40 points and George Muraguri who settled for third place on countback.

Padam was happy to have played five strokes better than his handicap on the course. He attributed the good run on the lush Railway fairways to intense training he has had in the last two months.

“I’m part of the Kenya Railway Golf Club team preparing for the 2024 Tannahill Shield to be hosted at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club over the Easter period. So, I headed to this tournament fully fit and well prepared,” the Real Estate businessman told Standard Sports.

“I also had an amazing batch on the course composed of Fidhelis Kimanzi, Edwin Murungi and vice-captain John Kameni. We had a very competitive round, I played very well. I’m content with my showpiece on the greens.”

Padam stated the overall victory really means a lot to him, especially lifting the trophy at his home club.

“I know most of the sponsors, so it was really an honour to win an event which they are supporting,” he underscored.

When asked his opinion about the tournament, Padam stated: “The championship was great, the sponsors were amazing, the prizes were thrilling, the hosting was cordial and the course was in good shape.”

Some of the benefits Padam has experienced while engaging in the gentleman’s game includes endless networking, keeping fit and having a healthy mental status.

In the next five years, Padam would like to see the game grow far and wide across the country and this is the reason he has been a junior golf convener at the club.

“I’m very much interested in expanding the sport, perhaps as a sponsor for the juniors in the future. My other intention is to see my handicap drop to zero, even though I have no intention of turning professional,” he highlighted.

Elated club captain Eddie Manywanda expressed his delight at the success of the event as he extended gratitude to all the club members for their fantastic turnout in the tournament whose objective was to promote networking and unify friends

The Bik Ap Gaa Golf Day tournament was largely sponsored by friends who are members of the association. The contest was characterized with drinking of traditional Kalenjin fermented milk mursik and eating of nyama choma.
