Impressive Nyaruai Soars In Women’s 1500m

NAIROBI,Kenya-Mary Nyaruai from Central oozed confidence as she cruised to glory in the women’s 1500m at the Athletics Kenya National Championships held at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi on Thursday.
She clocked 4.08.06, beating her closest challenger and Winnie Chebet by a whooping 50m.
The victory saw Nyaruai book a berth into the 23rd edition of the African Senior Athletics Championship to be held in Cameroon next month.
“I came here well prepared to compete in this race, so this victory is not by fluke.” Stated Nyaruai who was filled with joy.
Caroline Nyaga from Kenya Police, who had led in the last two laps before the bell that saw Nyaruai took over the driving seat, expressed her satisfaction with her second place finish saying: “I landed here with a target which was to enhance my speed, I am glad I’m steadily progressing each day.”
