NAIROBI, Kenya- It’s all systems go as SportPesa Boxing is set to slug off at the Edge Convention Center in South C, Nairobi on Saturday night.

Homeboy Javan Buyu is confident of bagging the prestigious UBO Intercontinental Lightweight title which will headline the 12 bout card sponsored by gaming firm SportPesa and promoted by Maurice Odera of UFS BXNG.

Buyu, who is both the reigning national and East Africa champion, will square it off with Tanzanian boxing sensation Ramadhan Idd in the 10 Round duel.

“Everything is in perfect order, I have worked on my tactics. On Saturday night it will just be a walk in the park for me to pick the belt in the ring,” Buyu said.

Idd, on the other hand, said he has not landed in Kenya to do child’s play.

” I mean business. I’m headed with the belt home. Buyu will see fire. He won’t go past the fifth round,” ecstatic Idd stated at their Weigh-In ceremony held in Nairobi on Friday.

Co-Main Fight Card in the night will pit Catherine Nanziri of Uganda who will battle it out with Husna Said of Tanzania for the vacant PST Lightweight women’s title.

Olympian Nanziri, who is also the Uganda and Africa Boxing Union (ABU) champion, has vowed to send her Tanzanian opponent scrolling to the canvas with experience while Said indicated that she will use her familiarity with the Kenyan boxing terrain to finish off her Ugandan rival.

There will be 10 other non-title bouts in the night of long knives led by the women’s featherweight clash involving Kenya’s Jane Kavulani who is laying in wait for Roman Asefa Abate of Ethiopia -who will be making her professional debut in the sport.
Kavulani, who ups her training at the dusty Pal Pal Gymnasium in Gikomba, has pledged to send the Ethiopian flying to the canvas in the early rounds.

Likewise, Asefa has vowed to board the plane back to Ethiopia with a first ever victory in the start of her professional boxing career where he hopes to scale many heights in the coming years.
