Faith Kipyegon Endorses Bingwafest; Presents Athletics’ Winners’ Awards

ELDORET, Kenya– World 1500m Champion and women’s record holder Faith Kipyegon provided a boost to the aspiring athletes competing for prize money at the Eldoret leg of the BingwaFest multi-discipline sports event. Robert Kiprop, Dismus Korir Lokira and Lawi Kosgei walked away with tidy sums of Sh200,000, Sh150,000 and Sh100,000 each after winning the 10,000m men’s race. 

The results of the athletics segment of the tournament were as follows: 

Men’s 10,000m:

  1. Robert Kiprop (Sh200,000)
  2. Dismus Korir (Sh150,000)
  3. Lawi Kosgei (Sh100,000) 

Men’s 5,000m:

  1. Boaz Kiprugut (Sh100,000)
  2. Dismus Korir (Sh60,000)
  3. Patrick Kipkurui (Sh30,000) 

Men’s 800m:

  1. Kevin Kimutai (Sh100,000)
  2. MacDonald Kipruto (Sh60,000)
  3. Ednah Kipruto (Sh30,000) 

Men’s 400m:

  1. Kelvin Kipkor (Sh100,000)
  2. Elkana Chemelil (Sh60,000)
  3. Felix Kibet (Sh30,000) 

Men’s 4x400m Relay: 

  1. Wiseman Were, Elkana Chemelil, Felix Kibet, Meshach Babu (Sh 25,000 each)
  2. Kelvin Kipkorir, Danson Kibet, Charles Nyamweya, Hentoh Kipng’etich (Sh15,000 each)
  3. Evans Kiptum, Zephania Kiprono, Alfred Kipketer, Onesmus Chepkochoi (Sh7,500 each) 

Men’s 100m:

NOTE: Cash prizes for the women’s categories are the same as Men’s. 

Some 2000 athletes, along with their coaches, sponsors, and fans gathered at the Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County on 6th and 7th December to participate in the athletics competitions, the initial competitions in the inaugural BingwaFest 2023. The tournament, co-sponsored by Betika Na Community, the County Government of Uasin Gishu, and organized by events and talent management company AfricaCentric Entertainment, is still underway, with ball games namely basketball and football taking place at the Eldoret Sports Club.
