EASCR Joins 7-70 Motorsports Fusing Hands In Community Development Drive
KILIFI, Kenya— In a heartwarming display of environmental stewardship, top leadership from the East African Safari Classic Rally and 7-70 Motorsports, took a pit stop from Classic Rally preparations Friday to contribute to the Community.
EASCR led by chairman Joey Ghose and Eric Bengi leading the 7-70 Motorsports rally team outfit embarked on a green initiative exercise, planting trees at Mabirikani Primary School in Kilifi County.
The initiative showcased the rally team’s and the event’s commitment to sustainable practices and community development.
Against the backdrop of revving engines and the scent of freshly turned soil, members of Team 7-70 Motorsports, and the EASCR together with eager schoolchildren joined forces to plant a variety of indigenous trees on the school grounds. The event aimed not only to contribute to the local ecosystem but also to leave a lasting legacy of environmental awareness.
Speaking after the exercise EASCR Chairman Joey Ghose noted that the exercise resonated with the iconic East African Safari Classic Rally.
“We are the only rally in the world today on a zero carbon emission. So we work constantly with international teams, but most importantly we aim to keep the environment and the country in a position whereby it can sustain itself.”
Eric Bengi, a former Two Wheel Drive title holder, Kenya National Rally Championship double champion in Division One and Group N, and who is also an Environmental Advocate and Team 7-70 Motorsports lead, shared his vision;
“Racing isn’t just about speed; it’s about driving positive change. We, at Team 7-70 Motorsports, believe in the power of our actions beyond the race track. Planting trees is our way of giving back to the Community and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.”
Local community leaders expressed gratitude for the rally team’s initiative, emphasizing the significance of such collaborations.
The event served as an educational platform for schoolchildren, imparting valuable lessons about environmental conservation and the importance of taking responsibility for the world around them.
Kilifi County Governor, H.E. Gideon Mung’aro is scheduled to flag off the East African Safari Classic Rally tomorrow morning at the Vipingo Ridge with 63 classic cars ready for the 9-day adventure, starting with the 15 Km prologues spectator stage, set to be held at the same grounds.
