Rising Young Golfers Showcase Their Talent At U.S. Kids Golf Spring Local Tour At Windsor
Nairobi, Monday, April 3, 2023: The fourth leg of the 2023 U.S. Kids Golf Spring Local Tour was held yesterday, Sunday, 2nd April 2023, at the 18-hole Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club in Nairobi.
The event featured 144 junior golfers aged between 5 and 18 years old, showcasing their skills and competing against their peers in age-appropriate categories. The tournament was jointly organized by the U.S. Kids Golf and the Junior Golf Foundation Kenya and supported by NCBA Bank as part of its commitment to supporting junior golf development in the region.
The results of the tournament were impressive, with the young golfers showcasing exceptional skills. In the senior Boys categories for those who played 18 holes, Kushagra Sharma and Lyndon Darker tied with 81 strokes, but Kushagra Sharma won on countback, followed by Ewan Van Niekerk in third place.
In the 13-14-year-old category, Shashwat Harish took first place with 77 strokes, followed by Parv Kavia and Tsevi Soni in second and third place respectively.
Mwathi Gicheru won the 12-year-old category with 76 strokes, followed by Aidan Gachora and Andrew Gathere. In the 11-year-old category, Amar Shah was the champion with 73 strokes, followed by Kahir Ladak and Alpha Ndungu Njenga.
In the younger Boys categories who played 9 holes, Gitonga Gitobu, Niam Shah, Nawenbo Li, Ivan Kipyegon Kimutai, and Trevvy Mungai took first place in the 10, 9, 8, 7, and 6-year-old categories respectively.
In the senior Girls’ categories who played 18 holes, Hazel Kuria won the 15 -18-year-old category with 87 strokes, followed by Antonia Mbuthia and Cherise Wachira.
In the 13-14-year-old category, Imani Njoki won with 99 strokes, followed by Navya Nagda and Hena Shah. Marya Nyambura Nguitigu won the 11-12-year-old category with 89 strokes, followed by Malaika Kasio and Brianna Ngecu.
In the junior girls’ categories who played 9 holes, Aria Dodhia won the 9 -10-year-old category with 41 strokes, and Aarna Mengi won the 8-year-old and under category with 40 strokes.

The tour will provide the junior players with an opportunity to qualify for U.S. Kids Golf international tournaments by earning points for Priority Status. The junior golfers will also be looking to qualify for events such as Regional Invitational and the U.S Kids Golf Regional Championship to be held later on in the year.
The next leg of the Local Tour is set to take place on 11th April 2023 at Sigona Golf Club.
