Rhino Charge 2023: Team Bushbabes Gunning For A Ninth Title

NAIROBI, Kenya-Team Bushbabes of Car 19 are focused to bag a ninth victory in the 34th edition of Rhino Charge to be held on June 3, 2023.
The prolific Team Bushbabes will be taking part in the annual off-road 4×4 challenge for the 13th time this year, they have pledged to ward off the expected strong opposition in their Coup Des Dames category.
The team has received a massive boost from Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) who are also part of the event sponsors.
The brewers are also sponsoring Car 25, Team Hippo who have stated they will be out to cause ripples in the man versus machine duel. Team Hippo are taking part in the competition for the seventh year.

Bushbabes driver Sabina Contos has expressed her excitement at participating in this year’s edition saying the competition has had a very positive impact on environmental conservation.
“We are back and excited to participate in our 13th Charge. It has been an honour to continually show up for this worthwhile cause to raise awareness on environmental conservation, which is something we are extremely passionate about.
“We are also glad to be partnering with KBL as we share similar values on promoting inclusivity and diversity in motorsport,” Contos told Standard Sports.
The KBL is extending its partnership to the contest for the third year running and will be hoping for a similar impact as the previous editions which have continued to prioritise its primary message on responsible drinking within the motorsports fraternity.

The landmark event hosted by the Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust aims at raising awareness and sensitisation towards the conservation and protection of Kenya’s mountain range ecosystems popularly known as the “Water Towers”.
On the Charge: “The continued involvement and support of brands like Whitecap are testament to the positive work being done to increase the awareness and support around the environmental conservation agenda,” Don White, Chairman and Clerk of Rhino Charge, underlined.
“Preparations for this year’s event are nearly complete; as we close in on the Charge, we expect another great outing for both participants and fans at one of Kenya’s most spectacular places,” White added.
The KBL Brand Manager, Prudence Mukami endorsed the role the Rhino Ark Charity has been doing on conservation of the environment.
“We are extremely excited to be part of the Rhino Charge. We have and continue to prioritise sustainable behavior within all our interactions and partnerships.
“This year, we have extended our sponsorship to two great teams participating, the Bushbabes- Car 19 and Team Hippo -Car 25 that align perfectly with our Diversity and Inclusion agenda as a company. We hope their participation will encourage the next generation of male and female drivers to get involved in motorsport,” Mukami stated.

Apart from Rhino Charge, KBL has been actively involved in other motorsports competitions including the Kenya National Rally Championship, the East African Classic Rally, the Lionesses Rally among others.
The 2022 edition of Rhino Charge saw a total of 64 teams take part in the event held in Mosiro, Kajiado County.
They managed to raise a total of Sh 156,000,000 which was invested in the conservation of mountain ecosystems around Mt Kenya, the Aberdares and Mt Eburu Forests.
So far, the annual Rhino Charge has raised over Sh 1.9 billion. It has also built 650 km of electric fences and through the fencing programmes, over 80,000 families are being protected from the dangers of human-wildlife conflicts.
