NAIROBI, Kenya- The ongoing NCBA Golf Series is set for its first regional doubleheader as VetLab Sports Club and Tanzania’s Gymkhana Golf Club prepare to host the next tournaments this coming Saturday, August 24.
The series, which kicked off in March, has traversed Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda, attracting over 2000 thousand golfers.
Over 200 players will converge at the par-72 course, while Gymkhana expects a field of over 100 golfers, all eager to showcase their talents and skills. Action at the two events is expected to tee-off at 6:30 AM.
The events offer golfers a chance to qualify for the grand finale, scheduled for Muthaiga Golf Club in November. Six players from each qualifying event – including the top male and female finishers in Divisions One, Two, and Three, as well as the overall Junior winner – will advance to the final round.
So far, over 100 golfers have qualified for the grand finale based on their performance in previous series events.
The NCBA Golf Series, known for its commitment to fostering talent and promoting the sport across Kenya, has attracted a diverse field of players, and the VetLab leg is expected to be no different, with high stakes and the promise of thrilling golf action.
Commenting on the upcoming tournament, NCBA Group Managing Director, John Gachora, said:
“We are happy to be back at the VetLab Sports Club and Gymkhana Golf Club this year for this year’s NCBA Golf Series. These events promise intense competition, with top golfers vying for top honors and the chance to play at the Grand Finale in November. Participants will not only enjoy a challenging course but also have the opportunity to network and engage with fellow golf enthusiasts. We look forward to witnessing exceptional talent on the course and strengthening our bonds with the golfing fraternity in that region.”
Gachora further emphasized the bank’s commitment to environmental sustainability: “As part of our corporate social responsibility, we are planting indigenous trees everywhere we set foot and we will plant 100 trees at both events. This initiative aligns with our broader sustainability goals and contributes to the preservation of our natural environment, our playing environment by extension.”
The VetLab event follows successful tournaments at Limuru and Mombasa earlier this month.
