KERICHO, Kenya- Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side KCB FC is intensifying its preparations ahead of their league kick-off on August 24, 2024.
The side has acquired the services of their former striker Francis Kahiro who is back at the stable. They have also reinforced the midfield by Dennis Maruti.
The team has pitched camp in Kericho where they are holding several friendly games with the latest being a 1-0 loss to the newly promoted side Mara Sugar FC.
New head coach Patrick Odhiambo is so far pleased with his charges saying they are adapting well to his philosophy.
Odhiambo is focused on building a competitive squad and gelling new players as they prepare for their Premier League opening fixture against Kariobangi Sharks FC at the Police Sacco Stadium in Nairobi.
This rigorous training is part of the club’s broader strategy to ensure the team is in peak physical and mental condition ahead of the new season.
“We are working on building a squad that will compete effectively in the league. We have penned several players and are waiting for even more confirmations in due course,” Odhimabo underlined.
“The friendly games we are holding are providing valuable insights, they have highlighted for us areas that need further improvement before the league officially begins.
“The game against Mara Sugar FC was an eye-opener for us. It showed us where we need to focus our efforts in the coming days. The players are giving their best, but there is still room for improvement. Our goal is to ensure we are fully prepared for the season ahead, and I am confident that with continued hard work and dedication, we will achieve great results,” Odhiambo added.
Having reached the FKF Cup final last season, KCB FC is now setting its sights on capturing its first Premier League title since rejoining the top tier in 2018. In the last season, KCB finished in tenth position with 45 points.
