Gaming firm Odibets kit Kenya Sports Journalists ahead of international assignments
NAIROBI, Kenya-The Kenya Sports Journalists FC (KSJ FC) has a lofty dream of taking part in international matches next year.
The club intends to engage in high profile games in Arusha and Dar es Salaam, both in Tanzania, Kampala in Uganda and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia against fellow scribes.
It is on this note that the Camp Toyoyo based outfit has embarked on intense preparations to make the dream come true.
The vision was on Wednesday evening supported by leading gaming firm Odibets who came on board to partner with the club.
Odibets kitted the team with both home and away jerseys, four quality footballs among other benefits.
The firm has also shown great interest in supporting the scribes in their international football engagements with among others airfares, accommodation and stipends.
“We are glad to partner with the KSJ FC, this is just the beginning. The relationship will not be a one off thing, we look forward to more cordial connection in this journey,” Odibets General Manager Dedan Mungai underlined.
“Odibets stands for integrity, we honour our pledges. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), we are happy to give back to the society through our support to the club,” added Mungai who called for peace as the country heads towards the general elections on Tuesday.
While receiving the kits, KSJ FC captain Erick Ochieng thanked Odibets for the kind gesture saying it’s a marvelous step toward the right direction.
“This is great history for our club which was formed way back in 2011.The team having both home and away jerseys is such a great honour,” Ochieng underscored.
The skipper assured the gaming firm that by sponsoring KSJ, the organisation will gain media and brand visibility.
“We are grateful for the support. We are hopeful to have a long lasting warm relationship with Odibets,” Ochieng said.
During the occasion, two football fans, Solomon Kipkemboi from Kapsabet and Charles Rotich Kibet from Bureti, were awarded KSh1million each for emerging victorious in the first season of the Omoka na EPL (Get rich with the English Premier League) promotion that was run by the gaming firm.
The duo pledged to try their luck in the second promotion season that gets underway with the new EPL kick-off on Friday.
At the same time, Odibets is basking in glory following the Commonwealth Games men’s 100m gold medal that was won by Africa’s fastest human Ferdinand Omanyala in Birmingham, England on Wednesday night.
“Through the Odi Mtaani initiative, Odibets supported Omanyala with KSh500, 000 during his early preparations in the category.
“He was also assisted to go to Nigeria for the races that later shaped up his life to become a star athlete,” Odibets representative Fred Arocho said.
Apart from Omanyala, other great beneficiaries of the Odi Mtaani initiative are former AFC Leopards SC striker Ezekiel Otuoma, over 200 patients in a Kakamega based hospital, national team Harambee Stars, former St.Georges FC custodian Patrick Matasi, the Amputee football and the Michael Olunga Foundation.
