FKF Elite Youth League
“The league is part of FKF’s strategy to revive grassroots football countrywide to identify talents from an early stage,” Amimo said.
“It’s been realized that a lot of young players do not have access to participation in organizer’s leagues until they are adults. It will also form the basis for the selection of the Kenya u15 and u17 teams. These leagues will be rolled out throughout the country
This is the third edition. The first edition was held in 2017 that saw Kenya form the first u15 national team.
“Many of those players are now playing in the Kenyan Premier League and NSL and some have got contracts to play abroad.
“Unfortunately this program was adversely affected first by Covid and secondly by the FIFA ban. We intend to rebuild it from where we left off,” Amimo said.
