ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia- Kenya Police FC advanced to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup after humiliating Ethiopia Coffee in a pulsating clash at Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Sunday evening.
A star-studded team skippered by Musa Mohammed latched in a first-half goal from Toha Rashid. A throw-in from Baraka Badi saw defender Rashid net in the match opener with a header during the afternoon outing.
The club’s Executive Chairman, Saig Nyale Munga, lauded the squad for the feat and emphasized their determination to make history, a goal now within their reach.
“The squad is playing exemplary well, and all that remains is a key focus on our finishing; African glory is within our reach,” said Nyale.
Police FC will now face Egyptian Giants Zamalek in the next round of the African Confederation Cup, which will be held in Egypt.
Head Coach Antony Kimani will count on a potent attacking squad of Clinton Kinanga, Francis Kahata, and goal scorer Toha Rashid.
“We will now restrategize for the next game; we have what it takes for major honors,” said Kimani.
Meanwhile, Police Bullets, who are also in Ethiopia, will face off with Tanzania’s Simba Queens on Monday, August 26, 2024, in the semi-final clash of the CAF Women League qualifiers. The winner will face off with the winner between CBE WFC and Kawempe Muslim during the finals at the Abebe Bikila Stadium on August 29, 2024.
Police Bullets FC, the rising stars in the competition, will be wary of predictable dark horses at the championship, envisaging to cement their legacy.
The Beldine Odemba squad will seek to nullify their opponents through swift counterattacks to add continental dominance to their achievements this year.
Kenya’s undefeated champs will display no-nonsense defending and an array of goal-scoring alternatives and will hope that the mindset of their players will see them off a difficult task during the continental showpiece.
