Mr. Kirimi is a businessman in Embu County.

NAIROBI, Kenya- Augustino Kirimi Mutea, a businessman from Embu County, is the first winner of a KES1 million cash prize in the ongoing Deposit and Win campaign spearheaded by Absa Bank Kenya.

The prize award marks a milestone for the campaign that is dubbed “Shinda Milli na Absa Assist”, which is part of Absa Bank’s activation of the Premier League as the Official Banking Partner in Africa.

Speaking soon after receiving the award, Mutea, who runs an eatery in Embu Town, expressed surprise and delight at receiving a call informing him of the prize after he began making deposits through the Absa Digital Account.

“I could not believe that I was the winner of the KES 1 million prize. This new year has certainly begun on a very good note for me with this prize,” he said.

Mutea, who has been banking with Absa since 2002, plans to invest the cash prize in expanding his business. He expressed appreciation to Absa Bank for supporting him over the years with financial support to advance his business.

Augustino Kirimi, a businessman in Embu County, receives the first KSh. 1 million cash prize in the ongoing Shinda Milli na Absa Assist Deposit and Win campaign spearheaded by Absa Bank Kenya.

Since the launch of the promotion in December 2023, nearly 20 customers have walked away with cash prizes ranging from KES10,000 to KES250,000 by simply making a deposit on the Absa Digital Account. The campaign will run until 14 March, 2024.

The launch of the promotion coincided with the Bank’s decision to increase the interest rate on deposits in the Absa Digital Savings Account to 10% per annum, up from 9% per annum, effective December 12, 2023, and valid until March 2024.

The initiative reflects the Bank’s dedication to promoting financial well-being and fostering a savings-oriented mindset among its customers. It also aligns with Absa’s broader strategy of leveraging digital innovation to offer convenient, secure, and rewarding financial solutions.
