SPORTPESA LEAGUE 2026/27 SEASON KICKS OFF

NAIROBI, Kenya- SportPesa has welcomed the start of the new SportPesa League season, which kicked off on Saturday 10 October 2026.

SportPesa’s landmark 10-year title sponsorship of the top tier of Kenyan football was launched ahead of the 2025/26 season. Sixty percent of the sponsorship funds are distributed by the governing body directly to the clubs, providing vital support for the long-term development of football in Kenya.

The successful first year of the sponsorship saw the implementation of innovations including monthly player and coach awards, integration of data and statistics, enhanced broadcast, matchday fans experience, improved mainstream and digital media coverage including the launch of the new dedicated website www.sportpesaleague.ke, elevated league visibility and a total of twenty million Kenyan Shillings (20M KES) worth of prize money to be shared among the top 3 clubs.

Commenting at the conclusion of Matchweek 1 of the new season of top-flight football across the country, SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri said:

“The return of the SportPesa League gives clubs, players and supporters the opportunity to focus once again on what matters most: exciting and competitive football. Through our 10-year partnership with FKF, we are helping bring greater stability to the domestic game and supporting the structures that enable clubs and players to thrive.

“After the delayed start, getting the season underway is particularly important. Every matchday creates opportunities for emerging talent to gain experience, showcase their abilities and take the next step in their careers.

“The league’s return is about more than the fixtures themselves. It gives clubs greater certainty, strengthens the player pathway and creates the conditions for long-term growth. Our focus remains unchanged: supporting Kenyan football and helping it reach its full potential.”

SportPesa’s support for Kenyan football extends beyond the league title partnership, further demonstrated by the direct Main Club Partner agreements with clubs including 2025/26 champions Gor Mahia, Murang’a SEAL and Shabana. Through the league’s financial distribution, SportPesa supports the development of all top-flight clubs, enabling them to invest in their playing squads, technical benches and club operations as stakeholders work towards a sustainable future.
