LUKENYA, Machakos County: Under the morning sun, a historic step was taken for one of Kenya’s most storied football clubs. Gor Mahia FC, a club built on passion, pride, and an unyielding spirit, has set its sights on a future worthy of its legacy.
Led by Deputy Patron Mr. Eliud Owalo, the club’s top leadership convened in Lukenya, adjacent to Daystar University, to assess a 48-acre parcel of land – land that may soon become the next home of Gor Mahia FC. The purpose: a state-of-the-art stadium and sports complex that will not only anchor the club but elevate its brand on the continental stage.
“We made a promise just last week, to find a suitable location for the construction of a Gor Mahia stadium. Today, we’re here turning that promise into action,” Mr. Owalo said.

The vision is bold – a 60,000-seat stadium designed to be a fortress for the K’Ogalo faithful.
Plans include three training pitches tailored for the senior team, youth academy, and Gor Mahia Queens. There will be on-site accommodation for players, a 4-star hotel for guests, a modern gym and convertible indoor gymnasium, and full recovery facilities including saunas and pools.
Additionally, the complex will host club offices, a media center, a merchandise megastore, retail spaces, washrooms, and ample parking.
“This site’s proximity to Nairobi makes it ideal. It’s accessible no matter how fans travel – by car, bus, or even by foot if they’re as passionate as we know they are,” said Mr. Owalo, underscoring the strategic advantage of the Lukenya location.

For years, Gor Mahia has reigned in Kenyan football, winning titles and hearts. But like many African clubs, it has lacked the infrastructure to match its stature. That’s about to change.
Gor Mahia Chairman Mr. Ambrose Rachier echoed the weight of the moment: “We just pray that God gives us the wisdom and ability to do the construction that we intend to do.”
Present at the landmark site visit were Vice Chairperson Sally Bollo, Secretary General Nicanor Arum, and Treasurer Gerphas Okuku.
As the chants of “Gor Biro!” continue to echo in stadiums across the country, soon they’ll rise from their very own sports complex in Lukenya.
