Lady Captain’s Prize: Over 500 Battle For Exciting Prizes At Muthaiga
NAIROBI, Kenya- The Lady Captain’s Prize tournament at the par 72-Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi attracted over 500 players who battled for honours in the green lush course on Friday and Saturday.
The golfers were busy in search of the Hole-In- One-Prize that entitled them to a whole year membership subscription at their golf club of choice.
“We have five par-3 holes, this means all players have five chances each day to attempt for the prize.
“We are grateful that Britam came on board to support this award category,” Muthaiga Golf Club Lady Captain Christine Ochola told Standard Sports.
Ochola was grateful with the turn out of players for the two day event.
“On Friday we had 264 golfers while on Saturday we already had 270 and the registration is still ongoing, we could go past 600 in total,” she stated.
The trained Social Worker is proud to have brought the ladies section at Muthaiga together in her one year tenure in office.
She also strived in her capacity to bring more tournaments to the ladies at the club.
“I’m glad that we established good relationships with sponsors who are getting their value for money at the Muthaiga,” she underlined.
“As I step out, I’m also proud to have grown the Junior Golf section in our club, of course this growth was realised with the help of the Kenya Ladies Golf Union and the Junior Golf Foundation,” she stated.
Ochola who is also a Public Relations consultant is expected to hand over the mantle to her successor in two weeks time after their club Annual General Meeting.
Once done, she will get back to the golf course fully as most of her play time this season was consumed by endless board meetings, restoring parity at the ladies golf section, searching for sponsors or planning for tournaments for the club.
Ochola said funds realised from the Lady Captain’s Prize tournament will be used to support drought stricken families across Kenya especially the women and the children.
