Nation Media Group Crowned Champions Of The 7th Standard Chartered Cup Futsal Tournament

NAIROBI, Kenya- Nation Media Group clinched victory at the 2024 Standard Chartered Cup, defeating Deloitte A 1-0 in a gripping final held at St. Mary’s School grounds, Nairobi.
The tournament brought together 280 players from corporate entities, SME banking clients, Liverpool FC fans, and media partners, showcasing exceptional skill and sportsmanship.
This year’s edition featured 40 teams competing in 95 high-intensity five-a-side matches. Divided into eight groups, the top two teams from each group advanced to the knockout stages, delivering electrifying action throughout.
Nation Media Group triumphed after navigating a competitive Group H, which included Kenya Airways B, CFAO Mobility B, Radio Africa, and Wananchi Group A and sailed to semifinals where they beat BATUK A 0-2.
Nation Media Groups, Brian Mwasya won the best goalkeeper while Radio Africa Groups Alex Amudavi won the golden boot after emerging top scorer with eight goals.
The Standard Chartered Cup, a flagship futsal event, celebrates the bank’s partnership with Liverpool FC. Exclusively open to amateur players, the tournament celebrates camaraderie, fair play, and competitive spirit.

The seven players of Nation FC have earned an all-expenses-paid trip to Anfield, the iconic home of Liverpool FC. They will witness the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Arsenal in May 2025.
The experience includes an exclusive training session at the Liverpool FC Academy with a club legend, a behind-the-scenes tour of Anfield’s historic museum, and a visit to The Beatles Story exhibit.
