Tecno Set To Revolutionize Kenya’s ESports Industry With Mega Mini Gaming G1, Pocket Go
NAIROBI, Kenya- The eSports players and community in Kenya now have a reason to smile after global innovative technology brand, Tecno, on Monday in Nairobi launched two high end gaming products that are expected to revolutionize the sporting industry.
The irresistible systems launched included the Mega Mini Gaming G1 that prides itself as the world’s first smallest water cooling gaming mini personal computer.
Tecno has also introduced into the market the charming Pocket Go eSports gadget that is proving to be the new gaming wonderland due to its exciting graphics.
Apart from the gaming gadgets, Tecno also introduced new mobile phones into the market during the colourful launch including the Phantom V Fold2, the Phantom V Flip 2, the Spark 30 and the Camon 30S.
“We are revolutionizing the gaming industry, we are expanding the gaming ecosystem, especially with our AIOT technology.
” The eSports gadgets we have launched tonight will excite both the amateur and professional players who are eager to take their gaming skills to the next level,” Tecno Kenya Product Manager, Linus Nguitui, told Standard Sports.
“We are on course to set up gaming conventions and eSports showdown to market these products,” he said.
According to Nguitui, the Mega Mini Gaming G1 is a very compact machine with an interesting water cooling effect apart from its thrilling graphic card.
“All games available in computers can be installed here including the Xbox console,” he said.
While giving his assessment on the Pocket Go, Nguitui stated: ” This gadget is more of a handheld gaming set, much similar to what you get on the Play Stations, it has an Xbox console which is actually the Central Processing Unit itself, so it’s so easy to handle. It has a very good gaming capability and is very portable when travelling.”
Both the gaming gadgets have upto 1 terabyte of storage and 16GB of RAM meaning one can be able to install as many games as they want.
Tecno is yet to release their official pricing in the market, but according Nguitui, the prizes will not go beyond Sh100,000.
“The eSports gadget systems will be available for mass consumption in Kenya very soon,” he stated
The eSports industry in Kenya is currently experiencing rapid growth, with local gamers achieving notable success in international competitions.
In 2023, Kenya witnessed remarkable growth in the industry, as is expected from a largely youthful population in a nation considered as tech capital of Africa.
Recent data suggests that the global eSports industry has reached a value exceeding $1 billion, drawing in substantial viewership worldwide. Kenya is positioned to become a significant participant in this rapidly growing sector, thanks to its tech-savvy youth and well-developed infrastructure.
Brian ‘Thee Beast’ Dianga so far is the most successful eSports player in Kenya. The six time EA champion has represented the country in many global forums including three times at the Afro-Arab League in Saudi Arabia, courtesy of an invitation from the Saudi Arabian prince, where he led the country to a second-place finish last year.
He is also the African Union edutainment gaming tester and the first Safaricom Blaze Gaming Ambassador.
Last month, Amateur gamer Michael ‘Mcoasty’ Ngwai from Mombasa floored over 1000 players to win the inaugural Betika Esports Shutdown Tournament held in Nairobi, bagging Sh500, 000 and two year worth of school fees at his Mount Kenya University.
