Namibia And Uganda Continue Fine Form In Windhoek
Uganda followed up its win over Zimbabwe with a wicket victory against Nigeria

WINDHOEK, Namibia- Efficiency was the order of the day on day six of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier in Windhoek, as Zimbabwe, Uganda, and hosts Namibia all secured convincing victories.
Uganda built on their historic win over Zimbabwe with their third victory of the tournament against Nigeria on Monday afternoon, bowling out the West Africans for just 99. Dinesh Nakrani continued his excellent week by snaffling three for 21, while Bilal Hassun and Alpesh Ramjani claimed two wickets apiece.
Joseph Adedeji’s 23 was the only notable contribution for Nigeria, as they came back to earth after their Sunday exploits. The chase was controlled by Uganda, thanks to Ronak Patel’s classy 60 not-out from 52 deliveries. He splashed nine boundaries around the park, as he and Roger Mukasa (28 not out) added 67 to take their team home by nine wickets.
In morning action, Zimbabwe trounced Rwanda by 144 runs, after being put into bat. Skipper Sikandar Raza hammered four sixes on his way to 58 from just 36 balls, while opening partner Tadiwanashe Marumani belted 50 off 31 balls, with three sixes of his own, as they added 99 for the first wicket.
Ryan Burl’s 44 not out from 21 balls then put the icing on the cake, as Zimbabwe scored a tournament-high 215 for four in 20 overs.
In response, Rwanda’s top order was blown away early, as they were reduced to 15 for five by the end of the Powerplay. Richard Ngarava (three for 11) did most of the damage upfront, while Raza (three for 3) cleaned up the tail with a hattrick, to complete a massive victory.
The hosts Namibia enjoyed a rest day on Sunday, but they hit the ground running on their return to action on Monday morning against Kenya. The bowlers throttled all scoring from Kenya, with Gerhard Erasmus (one for 10) and Helao YaFrance (one for 11) putting a lid on the middle overs.
The wickets were shared across the team, with Tangeni Lungameni taking two wickets, as Kenya wilted to 104 for six in their innings. Irfan Karim (43 not out) toiled alone and that total was never going to prove challenging for the Namibians.
Namibia made efficient work of the chase, even though they lost their top order fairly cheaply, slipping to 39 for three in the first seven overs. Jan Frylinck’s composed half-century steadied the ship, and he took them home, ending on 57 not out from 41 balls.
The win continued Namibia’s unbeaten run in the competition and brought them ever closer to a ticket to the West Indies, for next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. They can clinch that ticket when they take on Tanzania in the only match on Tuesday at Wanderers.
