Erick Ochieng Oyugi is an award winning sports journalist.
He is the 2010 and 2011 Children Rights Media Awards winner in Environment and Entertainment categories.
Ochieng has over 15 years experience in sports coverage.
Among high profile international events he has covered include the 2010 and 2022 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and Qatar, the 24th Deaflympics Championship in Brazil (2022), the World Rally Championship series- the Safari Rally in Naivasha, Kenya (2021 and 2022), the 17th Confederation of African Athletics Championship in Nairobi, Kenya (2010), the CECAFA football championships in Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia among others.
Ochieng worked as a Digital Sports Editor at Pevans East Africa ( SportsPesa) between 2017-2019.
He is currently the Editor at sportsdesk.co.ke, a leading online sports website in East Africa. He also doubles as Sports Reporter for the Standard Media Group PLC.
Ochieng holds a BA in Communication and Media Technology from Maseno University.
His other interests are travelling, working out and helping men become stoic in life.
